How is coaching different from therapy and can I use my insurance for coaching?

Coaching and therapy work with different paradigms. Therapy tends to treat past emotional issues along with current stressors or challenges that leave you stuck or emotionally overwhelmed.
Coaching uses positive psychology and considers that clients are healthy and focuses on where they are now, where they want to be, and how to get there. Coaching is very action-oriented and focused on a specific goal. Like a coach for physical fitness, coaching is all about accountability and motivation. Because coaching goals are not considered medically necessary, insurance will not cover the cost of coaching.
