Dr Robyne Howard
Psy.D.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who provides therapy to adults, couples and families. For more than 20 years I have helped clients experience tremendous change leading to happier, more fulfilling lives.
My practice is focused on working with individuals facing a variety of psychological and wellness issues. I also specialize in working with couples, using the Gottman Method where I have helped many couples heal and grow their relationships. Additionally, I work with “emerging adults” who are struggling with transitioning into or out of college, and into the adult world.
As a trained life and executive coach, I help individuals and groups with career strategies, planning and implementation, as well as stress management techniques for those who are in high-pressure settings such as a family business or launching their own company.
Throughout my practice, I utilize evidence-based therapeutic approaches with my clients, so that they can work through life challenges and achieve their goals. Some of the methods used include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and psychodynamic therapy. I believe that the best results are achieved when clients are provided with concrete tools to alleviate difficulties, combined with a deep understanding of why they developed.
I obtained my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and my master’s degree from Columbia University of New York. My post-doctoral training was completed at Ravenswood Community Mental Health Center and Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where I remained on staff for 12 years as a supervising psychologist training graduate psychology students, family practice physicians and consulting to medical clinics.
Prior to private practice, my clinical and consulting experiences included hospitals, community mental health centers, residential treatment facilities, as well as corporate settings.
I am a member in good standing with the following organizations: American Psychological Association, Illinois Psychological Association, Midwest Psychological Association, and Psychologists in Independent Practice.
