Dr Alice Virgil
As a seasoned therapist providing counseling for individual, families and couples. I am committed to strengthening your psychological health, and believe it is a critical part of your overall wellness. As a partner in your well-being, I listen and work with you to address psychological and relationship challenges using evidence-based approaches to therapy.
I practice according to the latest science in psychology to help diagnose, treat and prevent psychological symptoms, bringing applied science and data to work to make it accessible for your life, and bring about real, lasting change. I have received specialized training in cognitive behavioral therapy, couples therapy and compassion-focused therapy. I am driven by a deep curiosity to understand what works to cultivate stability, resilience, well-being and human flourishing.
It is important to utilize all leading-edge research on psychology and the brain to improve client outcomes. Combining the latest science and your strengths will be our starting point. No matter what you’re coming to therapy for, I love partnering with clients to create a life of well-being while using this approach.
Prior to working in private practice, I worked for the University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, Advocate Health and Rush Behavioral Health. I also worked for over ten years in a variety of settings, including university research, consulting, focus group moderating and public policy.
I have trained mental health practitioners locally and nationally. I have also developed cross-cultural international mental health train-the-trainer curricula. I earned a PhD from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and an MA from the University of Chicago.
